Coalition of Eight Alaska Native Corporations file lawsuit against the Pebble Project
A lawsuit was filed Wednesday, Jul 29, 2009 in Anchorage Superior Court attempting to stop the exploration process of the “Pebble Project”. The lawsuit claims that Alaska’s Dept. of Natural Resources violated the Alaska Constitution by granting permits allowing exploration.
The Plaintiffs include several individuals and “Nunmata Aulukestai”, a non-profit corporation comprised of eight Alaska Native Village corporations which include EkWok, Koliganek, New Stuyahok, Clarks Point, Aleknagik, Togiak, Manakotak and Dillingham.
